Course Objectives

The course "Literary Texts" aims to:

• Define Literature properly, and the purpose it serves.
• Identify the three main genres of literature presently.
• Explain the difference between connotative and denotative meaning of language.

At the end of the course "Literary Texts", the learner will be able to:

• Categorize literary texts into genres based on each genre's characteristics.
• Distinguish literary elements from literary devices in a literary text.
• Classify poems based on their form and content.
• Evaluate and eventually appreciate the aesthetic value of a literary work based on the literary components encompassed within it.
• Construct a well-knit interpretation of any given literary text.
