Chap. XI: Peroxisome_English_2026
Conditions d’achèvement
Peroxisomes are cytoplasmic organelles present in the majority of eukaryotic cells, particularly abundant in liver and kidney cells. They are small vesicles bounded by a single membrane and rich in oxidative enzymes. Their main role is to carry out cellular oxidation and detoxification reactions. Peroxisomes participate in the degradation of very long-chain fatty acids, the metabolism of certain lipids, and the neutralization of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) via the enzyme catalase.
