      We follow a top down approach in teaching the English language, and  the aim of this module is to give students the opportunity to learn some very important skills, namely:
      1- Listening skills.
      2- Reading skills.
      3- Translation and writing skills.
      Last but not least, we help students to acquire some basic knowledge about science, management and world culture...

  • Section 2

    • Explore the Wikipedia entry on the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).

      Mastering a new language is virtually impossible without delving into the IPA, which comprehensively represents the sounds found in languages worldwide, aiding in precise pronunciation. This is especially crucial as many languages, unlike Arabic, don't adhere closely to their written forms in spoken expression.

      أبجدية الصوتيات العالمية

      لا يمكن السيطرة على لغة جديدة دون الاطلاع على الأبجدية التي تمثل كل الأصوات الموجودة في لغات العالم، و هي تساعد على النطق الصحيح للكلمات. لأنه عكس العربية، معظم لغات العالم لا تُنطَق كما تُكتب.

  • Section 3

    • 1- Read slowly and loudly the whole text.

      2- Copy and paste the text into Google translate. Highlighting a word in Google translate gives a lot of information about its type (noun, adjective, verb, adverb...) and its different meanings and uses.

      3- Use Google to translate the text to both Arabic and French. Pay close attention to every translated word and sentence. The translation can never be perfect, and therefore you should always  try to spot errors and eventually correct them.

      4- Use Google pronunciation to practice listening and reading the highlighted words.

  • Section 4

    • 1- Practice listening and reading the words below using Google pronunciation:

      knowledge,  micro-chips,  demonstrated,   manufacturer,     switches,    components,   revolutionized,     dramatically,     whispering,      continually    

      2- Fill the gaps in the passage about Microelectronics using these words.

      3. Translate the whole text to both  Arabic and French and correct translation errors.

    • Martin Dougiamas is the founder and CEO of the open-source Moodle software project launched in 1999, which includes Moodle LMS, MoodleNet, MoodleCloud, Moodle Workplace and more.  He continues to guide and grow the enterprise with the support of 80 team members globally, 90 Moodle Partner companies, thousands of collaborators and hundreds of millions of users world-wide. 

      Recently Martin founded a new Open Edtech association (openedtech.global) to promote and support open source companies working in education to provide complete, high-quality, ethical, lasting educational technology solutions to power education into the future.

      1- Listen carefully to the talk given by the founder of Moodle.

      2- Use Google translate to check the meaning of the new words you learn.

      3- Practice saying the new words  using Google pronunciation.

  • Section 6

    • Scientific writing, while an indispensable step of the scientific process, is often overlooked in undergraduate courses in favour of maximizing class time devoted to scientific concepts. However, the ability to effectively communicate research findings is crucial for success in the field of science.

      Graduate students are encouraged to publish early and often, and professional scientists are generally evaluated by the quantity of articles published and the number of citations those articles receive. It is therefore important that undergraduate students receive a solid foundation in scientific writing early in their academic careers.
